  Maxine Evans Wood May 15, 1950 – June 21, 2025 Maxine Evans Wood, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend, Maxine will be remembered for her kind heart, steady faith, and unwavering commitment to those she loved. Born on May 15, 1950, to the late Bailey and Joyce Harper Evans, Maxine was a proud graduate of Jonesville High School and the University of Tennessee. She dedicated much of her life to education, retiring after many years as a teacher at Tate Middle School, where she impacted countless young lives with compassion and wisdom. Maxine was a devoted member of Oak Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and community. Her warm presence and gentle spirit made her a cherished part of the congregation. Calvin Winslow 1948 - 2025 (age 77) Calvin Leroy Winslow, age 77, of Ridgewood, died April 30, 2025. Calvin was born March 2, 1948 in Brown County to the late Harold and Lillian Winslow. He was a 1966 graduate of Ridgewood High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He returned to Ridgewood and served for 35 years as a paramedic. Calvin was a member of Ridgewood Community Church. He is survived by his children, Paul Winslow (Lisa), Rebecca Carter (James), and Tommy Winslow (Emily), and seven grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Evelyn Winslow, and his baby sister, Mary Jo Winslow.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory. Vernice Ball 1940 - 2025 (age 84) Vernice “Mama” Hester Ball, age 84, of Ridgewood, died at the Safe Rest Assisted Living Center on April 5, 2025. She was born in Miners County on December 9, 1940 to the late Norris Hester and the late Bernice Williams Hester. Mama was a member of Palm’s Creek Church of God all her life and was a homemaker.    Survivors are her daughter, Cindy B. Gordon and husband Todd, granddaughter, Christina B. Humphries (Tyler),  great-grandson, Justin Humphries and fiance Noel, sister, Greta Hester, and a host of church family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Ball, son, Bernard Ball, and daughter-in-law, Kim Ball.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Palm’s Creek Church of God. Michael Marlowe 1970 - 2025 (age 54) Michael Ray Marlowe, age 54, of Jonesville, died at the McEntire Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2025. He was born in Jones County to Ray Marlowe and Eloise Reynolds Marlowe, of Jonesville. He was a member of Oak Baptist Church and attended The Well Church. Michael was a 1988 graduate of Jonesville High School and a graduate of Brownsboro Diesel College. Margie McCurray 1930 - 2025 (age 95) Margie Williams McCurray, age 95, of Ridgewood, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025. A native of Jones County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Williams and the late Amelia Quinn Williams. Margie was a member of Oak Baptist Church and a retired Clerk for Ridgewood Drugstore.  Survivors are her husband, Delbert McCurray, of the home, daughter, Freida McCurray Long (Bob), of Ridgewood, sons, Delbert McCurray Jr. (Pat), of Jonesville, and Bailey McCurray (Georgia), of Ridgewood, sister, Florence Williams Ramsey (Ed), of Ridgewood, grandchildren, Wes Long (April), Shelia Ingles (Dusty), Del McCurray (Paula), Barry McCurray, Beth Vinesett (Will), Katherine Marlowe (Oscar), and Justin McCurray (Terri), thirteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Devin Hodge 2001 - 2024 (age 23) Devin Alex Hodge, age 23, of Ridgewood, died in an automobile accident on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Devin was born on January 30, 2001, in Jones County, to Richard and Maria Patterson Hodge. He was a graduate of Ridgewood High School in 2019, and a graduate of Jonesville Technical College with a Real Estate License. He worked for JC Realty Group. Devin was a longtime member of Oak Baptist Church and attended The Well Church. He always loved hunting with his "Pawpaw Dwight".   Steve Marshall 1946 - 2024 (age 78) Steve Marshall, age 78, of Ridgewood, died at his home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born on April 3, 1946 in Jones County to the late Bonnie Marshall Duffy. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, S.P. Duffy. Steve was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and Jonesville Technical Community College. He was a member of the Ridgewood Community Church where he served on the Security Team.
