Max Vess, III

  Max Vess, III 1981 - 2023 (age 42) Max "Tripp" Vess III, age 42, died unexpectedly on December 27, 2023. Tripp was born on May 23, 1981, in Jones County, to Darlene Carver Vess, and the late Max Johnson Vess Jr. He worked for the past 13 years at Build Brothers Construction. He enjoyed spending time outdoors doing things like Hunting and Fishing. He was faithful to his church where he volunteered in various capacities and especially loved his three wonderful children. In addition to his mother, those who will cherish his memories include his beloved wife of over 23 years, Erica Camp Vess, his sons, Taylor Vess and wife Jesse, and Riley Vess and fiance Morgan, his daughter, Maddie V. Lancaster and husband Jack, a grandson, Max Vess IV, sister, Virginia Parker and husband Lee, and his nephew, Lee Parker Jr.  He was preceded in death by his father on November 23, 2023, and his grandparents, Max Vess, Madge Vess Davenport, and Montgomery and Ethel Carver.  Visitation will be he

Trenton Lawson

  Trenton Lawson 1999 - 2023 (age 24) Trenton "Trent" Alexander Lawson, age 24, went to his Heavenly Home on December 24, 2023, following a year long battle with cancer. Trent was born on December 3, 1999, in Jones County to Jamie William Lawson, and Michelle Alexander Lawson. He was a member of Oak Baptist Church and a former employee of Gardner Community College.  In addition to his precious parents, Trent leaves behind his darling wife of 5 years, Mallorie Elaine Campbell Lawson, his precious sons, Taylor Alexander Lawson, and August Trenton Lawson, his brother, Vance Lawson and wife Hannah, his sister, Priscilla Lawson Black and husband Jeremy, a nephew, Tyson Black, grandparents, Rob and Jolene Lawson, and Lucy Hodge Alexander. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rupert Alexander.  A Visitation will be held at the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Dora Moore

Dora Moore 1938-2023 (age 84) Dora Marie Moore, age 84, passed away December 23, 2023 at the McEntire Hospital following an automobile accident. Dora was born on December 28, 1938 to the late Charles Hamilton Moore, Sr., and the late Keelee Johnson Moore. She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church for many years. She retired from Food City, and was a graduate of Ridgewood High School. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Lemuel Kesterson, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Gloria Kesterson and Mavis Godfrey, and her brothers, Charles, Alfred, Albert, Anderson, and Wilkes Moore. The family will receive friends for Gloria Kesterson & Dora Moore on Tuesday, December 27, 2023 at the Ridgewood Mortuary Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm.   Gloria Kesterson 1939-2023 (age 84) Gloria Moore Kesterson, age 84, passed away on December 23, 2023 at the McEntire Hospital following an automobile accident. Gloria was born on April 1, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Charles Hamilton Moore, Sr., and the late Keelee Johnson Moore. She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church for many years and currently attended Oak Baptist Church. Gloria was retired from Hampton's Insurance and a graduate of Ridgewood High School. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robin Lemuel Kesterson, her son, Neil Alfred Kesterson and wife Laura, and grandchildren, Avery Kesterson, Jake Kesterson, Clark Kesterson, Ayden Kesterson, and Alex Kesterson. Her sister, Dora Moore, passed away three minutes following Gloria's death.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Moore, Alfred Moore, Albert Moore, Anderson Moore, and John Wilkes Moore, and a sister, Mavis Godfrey. Darla Davis

  Darla Davis 1949-2023 (age 74) Darla Williams Davis, 74, died at her home on Monday, December 18, 2023. Darla was born on April 30, 1949 in Ridgewood as a daughter of the late Mortimer Evan Williams, and the late Avis Poole Williams.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tommy Davis. A Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on December 20, 2023 at the Stanley Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2 pm December 20, 2023 at Stanley Baptist Church with Reverend Ed Young officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Boston Adams

  Boston Adams 1934-2023 (age 89) Mr. Boston Adams, age 89, of Ridgewood, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the McEntire Hospice House. Mr. Adams was born in 1934 and was a son of the late Elijah Adams, and the late Asalee Robbins Adams. He was a faithful member of Oak Baptist Church and had retired from the Withers Funeral Home where he formerly served as a Funeral Attendant.  He leaves behind his daughter, Lisa Adams Roberts (Ken), three grandsons, Austin Roberts (Miranda), Carter Roberts, and Jeffrey Roberts (Christy), four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys H. Adams, and his 3 siblings. A Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Oak Baptist Church. A Family-Led Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Hopkins officiating. Darryl Dobbins

Darryl Dobbins 1924-2023 (age 99) Darryl William Dobbins, age 99, formerly of Ridgewood, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Magnolia Manor in Spartanburg, SC. Darryl was born on June 14, 1924 in Ridgewood, TN, to the late Franklin William Dobbins, and the late Bonnie Sanders Dobbins. Darryl was a member of Oak Baptist Church for numerous years and retired from Ridgewood Hardware. He is survived by his sons, Darryl William Dobbins Jr. (Leigh), of Spartanburg, SC, George Franklin Dobbins (Debra), of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Rita Dobbins Hollifield (Kevin), of Gaffney, SC, and Susie Dobbins, of Ridgewood, TN, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Dobbins, his son, Ronald Dobbins, and his siblings, George, Irene, Job, Adam, and Jack.  A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory.

Arlene Wood

  Arlene Wood 1953 - 2023 (age 70) Arlene Brown Wood, age 70, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Brooke Dementia Community following a lengthy dementia journey. Arlene was born on July 24, 1953 in Ridgewood to the late Wilbert Brown and the late Wendy Hoyle Brown. She worked for several years at the McEntire Hospital. Arlene attended Ridgewood Central High School and was a member of Stanley Baptist Church. She enjoyed listening to Western-Country Music and Bluegrass Music and spent a lot of time square dancing at various locations throughout the community.  She leaves behind her precious husband of 53 years, Glen Wood, her daughters, Christy W. Walker and husband Chad, and Miranda W. Hamilton and husband Brandle, her 4 "perfect" grandchildren, Sara and Tate Walker, and Riley and Raven Hamilton, a brother, Jerry Brown and wife Beth, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, those who wait for her in heaven include her 2 brothers, Jerome and Jack
