Myrtle Carver

  Myrtle Carver 1930-2023 (age 93) Myrtle Alexander Carver, age 93, of Ridgewood, died Tuesday, May 19, 2023 at the Ellenwood Home. Myrtle was born on January 3, 1930, in Ridgewood, to the late Herbert and Lillian Alexander. She was a retired Town Secretary working for over 40 years under Mayor Kenneth Aldridge. She was a member of Oak Baptist Church in Ridgewood.  She is survived by her husband, Alvin Carver; her children, Hugh Carver (Ellen), and Maxine Humphries (Kenny); 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Hester Carver. A Service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, May 26, 2023 at Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Thompson and Rev. Tim Hopkins officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service. The Ridgewood Mortuary & Crematory is serving the family. 

Madge Davenport

   Madge Davenport 1930-2023 (age 93) Madge Freeman Vess Davenport, age 93, of Ridgewood, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Brookwillow Assisted Living Center, following a short illness. Madge was born on April 4, 1930, in Jonesville, to the late Arland and Virginia Freeman. Madge was a homemaker for most of her adult life, but was also a babysitter and seamstress from her home. She had once served as Miss Ridgewood and also the President of the Ridgewood Women’s Club.  She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and a member of Cash Memorial Baptist Church.  Madge is survived by her precious husband of 21 years, Oliver Hoyle Davenport;  her children, Max Vess Jr. (Darlene), Carl Vess (Janet), and Ellen Vess Carter (Jim); step-children, Darius Davenport (Carol), Steve Davenport (Dorine), and Alan Davenport (Pat); her grandchildren, Tripp Vess (Erica), Virginia Parker (Lee), Mary-Elizabeth Poole (Charlie), Alex Vess (Bethany), James Carter III (Sarah), and Mason Carter (Jayla

  Kay Davenport 1960-2023 (age 63) “Til Death Do Us Part” Kay Hudson Davenport, age 63, wife of Ricky H. Davenport, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Brookwillow Assisted Living Center following a long illness. Kay was born on April 18, 1960, in Minersville, to the late Ernest and Ernestine Hudson. She was a homemaker for many years, but was involved in the Ridgewood Women’s Club for Many Years. Prior to their illnesses, her and her husband faithfully attended Hopewood Church. She was a member of Ridgewood High School’s Class of 1978. Kay married his High School Sweetheart, Richard “Ricky” Hoyle Davenport, on April 3, 1978 and the two never spent a day apart since.  She was preceded in death by her husband on May 8, 2023, and her parents, Ernest and Ernestine Hudson, both in 2017.   She leaves behind her children, Opal-Marie D. Stamey (Lamar), Danielle J. Davenport-Waldroup (Jake), Richard Hoyle Davenport Jr. (Megan), and Henry O. Davenport, her grandchildren, Jaxon Stamey, Malac

Richard Davenport 1960-2023 (age 62) “Til Death Do Us Part” Richard “Ricky” H. Davenport, age 62, husband of Kay H. Davenport, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Brookwillow Assisted Living Center following a long illness. Ricky was born on May 18, 1960, in Ridgewood, to Oliver H. Davenport and the late Opal Hudson Davenport. He was an independent mechanic serving his community for the last 23 years from his shop, “Ricky’s Auto Services”. Prior to their illnesses, he and his wife faithfully attended Hopewood Church. He was a member of Ridgewood High School’s Class of 1978. Ricky married his High School Sweetheart, Kay Hudson Davenport, on April 3, 1978 and the two never spent a day apart since.   He leaves behind his children, Opal-Marie D. Stamey (Lamar), Danielle J.
