“Til Death Do Us Part”

Richard “Ricky” H. Davenport, age 62, husband of Kay H. Davenport, passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Brookwillow Assisted Living Center following a long illness. Ricky was born on May 18, 1960, in Ridgewood, to Oliver H. Davenport and the late Opal Hudson Davenport. He was an independent mechanic serving his community for the last 23 years from his shop, “Ricky’s Auto Services”. Prior to their illnesses, he and his wife faithfully attended Hopewood Church. He was a member of Ridgewood High School’s Class of 1978.

Ricky married his High School Sweetheart, Kay Hudson Davenport, on April 3, 1978 and the two never spent a day apart since. 

 He leaves behind his children, Opal-Marie D. Stamey (Lamar), Danielle J. Davenport-Waldroup (Jake), Richard Hoyle Davenport Jr. (Megan), and Henry O. Davenport, his father, Oliver Hoyle Davenport (Madge), his grandchildren, Jaxon Stamey, Malachi Stamey, Aron Stamey, Josiah Stamey, Matthew Waldroup, Ava Waldroup, David Davenport, Jameson Davenport, and Mitchell Davenport, brothers, Darius Davenport (Carol), Steve Davenport (Dorine), and Alan Davenport (Pat), and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Our Hearts are Broken at the loss of a Husband, Son, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Our world will never be the same.

Ricky joined an infant sister, Maxine Davenport, in Heaven. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Hopewood Church, with Pastors Mike Thomas and Zachary Prescott officiating. The Ashes will be interred following the service in the Davenport Family Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Ridgewood Mortuary & Crematory. The Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory is assisting the family of Richard “Ricky” H. Davenport. 

In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the Hopewood Church or to the Brookwillow Assisted Living Center.
