Kay Lee

Kay Lee

1964 - 2024 (age 60)

In the stillness of the morning on Friday, September 6th, 2024, Miss Kay Elaine Lee, of Ridgewood, faded from this life into the next, while at the McEntire Hospice House. Kay was born on September 1st, 1964, in Jones County where she lived her entire 60 years of life.

Kay is survived by her father, Ernest "Ernie" Blackwood Lee, who resides in Jonesville; her mother, Faye White and husband Bo, who reside in Brownsboro; her brothers, Ricky Lee and wife Marsha, who reside in Ridgewood; and Dennis Lee and husband Eddie, who reside in Asheville, N.C.; a special niece who was her best-friend, Maria Lee Ellis and husband Tom Jr., who reside in Ridgewood; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

She was a writer, who wrote over fifteen children's books, and nine young-adult novels. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and later attended The Ohio State University. In addition to writing twenty-four books, Kay worked for numerous publishers over the years as an editor.

She loved her adored fur-baby, Christopher, who survives.

In addition to her love for writing, Kay also had a special love for boat rides, hot air balloon races, sunsets, and flowers. She had a flower garden at her home and was known in the community for her beautiful flowers. Visitors who stopped by frequently left with fresh bouquets which she made for them out of flowers she had grew.

A Gathering time has been set aside from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, at the Cellar, in Jonesville. Other services will be private. If you wish to send flowers, please send them to the home of her niece, Maria Ellis, which is located at 358 McKinley Street, Ridgewood. For sending cards, please do so to P.O. Box 228, Ridgewood. The family will gather at the home of Mr. Ernie Lee, from 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.

A NOTE FROM THE FAMILY:
We wish to make mention that our sweet sister, Kay, wrote her own obituary with the exception of a few details. She was a writer until the end. We love and will surely miss her for many years to come. She was a very special person who meant a lot to us, and so many others. Thank you for the kind words, prayers, and thoughts you have sent our way. This hurts a lot but we're glad she is no longer in pain.

The Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory has been trusted with the services.
