1946 - 2024 (age 78)

Dwight Henry Patterson, age 78, of Ridgewood, peacefully entered into Heaven’s eternal rest at his home on Monday, May 13, 2024 while surrounded by his family. Dwight was born on April 19, 1946 in Jones County and was they youngest son of the late Armon James Patterson, and the late Ethel Walker Patterson. He was the Jack of All Trades and even the master of many. His children thought Dwight could do everything, and usually, he could. Dwight was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and later Jonesville Technical College. In his spare time, he could be found fishing, hunting, working on old cards, doing jigsaw puzzles with his wife, spending time with his three children, vacationing with the whole family, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren who affectionately knew him as Grampy. He was a member of Oak Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his darling wife of 55 years, Harper McKinley Patterson, his daughters, Shelia Patterson Millwood (Thomas), and Maria Patterson Hodge (Richard), son, Oliver Henry Patterson (Nicki), grandchildren, Tyler Millwood (Makayla), Jessica Hardin (Mitchell), Chloe Hodge, Madeline Hodge, Devin Hodge, Malachi Patterson, Joseph Patterson, and Naomi Patterson, great-grandchildren, Matilda Millwood, Ivy Millwood, and Ace Hardin, brothers, Leroy Patterson (Susan), and Lester Patterson (Brenda), sister, Helen Patterson Watson, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Shultz, and Barbara Oliver. 

The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory. The service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Timothy Hopkins and Reverend Carter Crowe officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Meadow Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oak Baptist Church or to the McEntire Hospice House. 

The family has trusted Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory with the arrangements.
