Joyce Mattie Frances Springfield, age 85, passed away on February 1, 2024 at her residence following a number of illnesses. Mattie was born on February 19, 1938 to the late Smitty Frances, and the late Dora Campbell Frances. She was a faithful member of Oak Baptist Church for over 60 years, attending with her husband and children. She was formerly the church pianist, a sunday school teacher, and Vacation Bible School Director. She was a homemaker and loved to cook, clean, and care for her family.

She leaves behind her loving husband of Sixty-Three years, Arnold Raymond Springfield Sr, her sons, Ray Springfield and wife Mildred, and Stanley Springfield and wife Reba, daughters, Barbara Springfield Scott and husband Ron, and Shelby Springfield Austin, grandchildren, Trey Springfield and wife Sarah, Stephen Springfield and wife Rebecca, Clayton Springfield and wife Heather, Jasmine Hardin and husband Philip, Miranda Whitmire and husband Bradley, Mitchell Scott and wife Penny, Douglas Austin and wife Miranda, and Colby Austin, and numerous great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vince Austin, in 2019, and her brother, Avery Frances in 1999. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 5, 2024 at the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory from 4-6 pm. The body will lie-in-state from 12:30-1 pm at the Oak Baptist Church on February 6, 2024. The service will be held February 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Hopkins and Reverend Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. In addition to flowers, memorial donations can be made to Oak Baptist Church. The family has trusted the Ridgewood Mortuary and Crematory with the service arrangements.
